SourceLink came together at a hackathon hosted by the Computing Students' Association (CISSA) at The University of Melbourne. During the hackathon, we came up with our concept, developed our MVP and from there our Imagine Cup journey began! We are passionate about using new, immersive technologies to create innovative experiences and social benefits. All the team members are current students at the university, studying Computer Science or Information Systems at undergraduate or Masters Level.
Our project reconnects individuals with the producers of their food, helping them to engage with the people and the stories behind their purchases. We bridge the divide between makers and consumers to restore the social, human side of shopping. Our augmented reality app creates andintuitive and exciting experience for consumers, helping them to understand more about what they are buying and, most importantly, who they are buying it from. The app gives consumers greater confidence and satisfaction in their purchases, and helps them take back control of their shopping experience. Shoppers can use the app as they browse the shelves, and the image recognition software puts information about the relevant products at their fingertips. They can receive social, health or other information, and are also able to provide immediate feedback to producers. Our innovative technology further pushes the bounds of consumer and producer interaction, as we are using the unique capabilities of Hololens to create a fully immersive experience. The project helps small-scale consumers to engage directly with their customers, and an easy-to-use website makes it simple for them to tell their story. http://sourcelink.azurewebsites.net/index.html
